Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide unit are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left two dead and one injured in Oakland Park on Thursday, Jan. 15.

According to investigators, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 7:14 p.m. that Thursday, near the 4000 block of North Powerline Road in Oakland Park. The preliminary investigation revealed Ernest Ceaser was traveling in a black 2024 Ford Mustang Coupe northbound on North Powerline Road, approaching Northwest 40th Street. At the same time, Clarice McCall and a passenger were traveling in a black 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on North Powerline Road.

Detectives say that at some point, the driver of the Tahoe proceeded to turn left to travel eastbound on Northwest 40th Street when it was struck by the Mustang in a T-bone style collision.

BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded. The driver of the Mustang and the passenger in the Tahoe were pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Tahoe sustained not life-threatening injuries and was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators say excessive speed by the Mustang’s driver is a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation continues.
