Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives say two men are in custody after a murder victim was discovered on Sunday, Feb. 1, in unincorporated western Broward County.

According to investigators, around 8:41 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, BSO deputies responded to the West Broward Boat Ramp, located at 3451 North U.S. 27, regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in the area. Inside the vehicle, a deputy located a deceased adult male. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to the scene, and BSO’s Biometric Unit identified the deceased adult male as Hunter Howell.

Howell’s body was taken to the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the manner of death was determined to be a homicide. Detectives believe the homicide occurred on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Following an investigation, BSO detectives developed probable cause for the arrests of Jayden DeJesus and Trevon Quinones for committing the murder. On Wednesday, Feb. 11, sheriff’s deputies with the Kaufman County (Texas) Sheriff’s Office detained DeJesus and Quinones following a traffic stop. BSO’s V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) Unit and the U.S. Marshals Office in Dallas assisted in the arrests. The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Miami Police Department provided investigative assistance in this case.

DeJesus and Quinones were booked into jail in Kaufman County on charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Both men are expected to be extradited to Broward County to face the criminal charges.
