Three teens were killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday night in Pompano Beach.

Just before 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a traffic crash in the 1600 block of North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. According to investigators, the preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2024 Acura Integra turned right out of the shopping plaza at Northeast 18th Street to go south on North Federal Highway. At that time, the driver of a 2014 white BMW M5 was driving southbound on North Federal Highway.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of the BMW then struck the center median’s raised concrete curb before losing control of the vehicle, hitting the Acura and rotating clockwise and sliding sideways across the roadway. The BMW then jumped the curb on the west side of the roadway, crashing into a Broward County Transit bus stop before striking a concrete light pole and a tree.

The driver of the Acura came to a controlled stop in the left turn lane. The damage to the Acura indicated a sideswipe-type impact to the front driver’s side of the vehicle.

BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene and immediately began efforts to extricate the three male teens from the BMW. Paramedics transported the three teens to Broward Health North where they were pronounced deceased. The driver and passengers in the Acura did not report any injuries.

Detectives said the preliminary investigation reveals that excessive speed by the driver of the BMW is a possible contributing factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
