Description of Incident
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) arrested the man suspected in a shooting last week in Pompano Beach that left one man dead and another injured.
According to investigators, at approximately 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 25, BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to reports of a shooting near the 600 block of West Sample Road. On scene, deputies located 52-year-old Tyrone Holton lying in the parking lot of a food store suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported Holton to Broward Health North where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
During the investigation, deputies learned another person, Derek Floyd, was also shot. Floyd was brought to the hospital by another individual for treatment of his injuries.
Through the investigation, BSO Homicide Unit detectives identified Clarence Flournory as a suspect and probable cause was established for his arrest. Following his arrest on Tuesday, detectives say Flournory confessed to committing the murder.
