Broward Sheriff’s Office is hosting an Operation Medicine Cabinet and Shred-a-Thon (OMCS) event in Pembroke Pines this weekend.

BSO invites Broward County residents to participate in this free event, which is geared toward preventing prescription drug abuse and identity theft in the community.

The OMCS will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, 601 City Center Way. Unused, unwanted, or expired medications will be collected for safe disposal at the event. Personal documents that may contain sensitive information will also be collected for shredding.

A $5 gift card will be distributed to those residents who turn in prescription medications while supplies last. Note that needles and sharp objects will not be collected at this event, and a maximum of two boxes per vehicle will be allowed for shredding. Each box can be no larger than 16 inches in length, 12 inches in width, and 12 inches in height.
