Tequesta Burris knows the pain of losing a child to gun violence. Her son, Ke’Tavious Walker, was shot and killed in Pompano Beach last month. Now, Burris is asking anyone with information on her son’s murder to share what they know with detectives.
“I just need someone to reach out and understand what it is to be a mom, knowing that you’ll never be able to hug (your child) again or talk to them again,” Burris said.
At approximately 12:52 a.m. on Sunday, February 16, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a shooting at 713 N.W. Sixth Street in Pompano Beach. BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded. On scene, deputies located an adult male, Walker, suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported him to Broward Health North where he was pronounced deceased. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Burris hopes her message encourages someone who saw or heard something to pick up the phone and contact BSO or Broward Crime Stoppers.
“I can’t even explain how it is to lose someone that you truly love. I keep wanting to hear his voice or say, ‘I love you,’” she said. “Think about if it was your child. Wouldn’t you want to know what happened?”
Anyone with information on the homicide of Ke’Tavious Walker is asked to contact BSO Detective Alison Craven-Swan at 954-321-4200 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States. If your tip leads to an arrest in this case, you may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000.
