A man was shot dead in unincorporated Central Broward on Monday night, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal shooting.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:42 p.m. on Jan. 19, near the 900 block of Northwest 24th Avenue. According to investigators, BSO deputies responded to the location after being notified of a ShotSpotter call in the area. On scene, deputies located an adult male, later identified as 35-year-old Nathaniel Forrest, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies immediately began performing life-saving measures. 

Forrest was subsequently transported by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Detectives with BSO's Crime Scene and Homicide Units were notified and responded to investigate.
