Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit detectives are investigating a shooting in Pompano Beach that left one man dead and another man injured on Friday night.

According to detectives, around 11:53 p.m. on Oct. 2, the victims, Robert Vaughn and another adult male, were gambling in the front yard of the home at 1530 N.W. Seventh Ave. when an argument broke out with another man who was gambling, Rau Lee Davis Jr. Detectives say Davis produced a firearm and fired several rounds, striking Vaughn and the other man.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Vaughn deceased on scene. The other man received medical treatment for his injuries.

Following the shooting, Davis left the scene but eventually returned. Detectives arrested him on one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder.
