A single car crash leaves one man dead in Oakland Park.

At approximately 9:44 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 17, Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide investigators responded to a report of a fatal single-vehicle crash in the intersection of West Commercial Boulevard and North Andrews Avenue. 

The preliminary on scene investigation revealed Gerald Laurore was driving a blue 2001 Chevrolet Suburban SUV traveling northbound on North Andrews Avenue approaching Commercial Boulevard. 

Detectives say, as the Chevrolet approached the intersection, it initiated a left turn to go westbound on West Commercial Boulevard. The driver of the Chevrolet lost control during the turn, struck the center median, and rolled over. As the vehicle rolled over the driver was partially ejected. Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded, extracted the driver from the vehicle, and pronounced him deceased on scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
