Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred Monday night in West Park. 

The deadly incident occurred just after 10 p.m. on Sept. 29. According to investigators, 54-year-old Noel Martin was traveling in a 2018 Dodge Challenger eastbound in the 5500 block of Pembroke Road. At the same time, Cassandra Warner was crossing Pembroke Road from north to south in the designated crosswalk area, while the traffic light was green. 

Detectives said, for an unknown reason, Warner walked into the path of the moving car and was struck by the Dodge Challenger.

BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded, and Warner was pronounced deceased on scene.

At this time, neither speed nor driver impairment is considered a contributing factor in the fatal crash. The investigation continues.
