Description of Incident
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 20-year-old man in Tamarac Sunday morning.
At approximately 9:10 a.m., on Sunday, Jan. 19, Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a crash with injuries near the 6800 block of Southgate Boulevard in Tamarac. Broward Sheriff’s Office Tamarac District deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue responded.
On scene, emergency crews located a single-vehicle crash. Emergency personnel pronounced the driver, Mattias Jesus Argeulles, deceased on scene. BSO’s traffic homicide detectives responded to investigate.
The preliminary investigation revealed Argeulles was driving a 1990 Volvo 740 traveling westbound on Southgate Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle in a curve. Investigators say Argeulles over corrected causing the vehicle to rotate. The vehicle continued westbound sliding sideways until it struck a concrete utility pole where it came to a final rest.
The investigation continues.
