Description of Incident
Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a man dead in North Lauderdale.
Shortly after 8:29 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 30, BSO traffic homicide detectives responded to South State Road 7 and Southwest 17th Street in North Lauderdale after receiving a report of a crash involving two vehicles.
The preliminary investigation revealed Jean Jonas Vixamar driving a 2009 Toyota Camry was stopped in the northbound left turn lane of South State Road 7 with the rear tire on the median. Meanwhile Kimmair Lowery was driving a 2021 Honda Accord traveling northbound on South State Road 7 and maneuvered around the Toyota Camry into the left turn lane.
Detectives say the Toyota Camry was stopped at a red light waiting to make a U-turn when it began slowly moving, hitting the rear of the Honda Accord.
Investigators say the Accord moved over into the left thru lane at which time the Camry continued to slowly roll to a stop against the median on the north side of the intersection.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Vixamar to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
According to investigators, it appears Vixamar may have suffered a medical event prior to the crash. At this time, neither excessive speed nor driver impairment are considered contributing factors in this crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
