Description of Incident
Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist Monday night in Dania Beach.
At approximately 8:17 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 13, BSO detectives responded to a call reporting a motorcycle crash involving a vehicle near the 2400 block of Stirling Road in Dania Beach. BSO district deputies, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and Hollywood Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed Frank Forque was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima sedan heading south to exit the parking lot of the Emerald Plaza located along the north side of Stirling Road. Meanwhile, Richard Decatur was riding a 2022 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle traveling westbound on Stirling Road in the far right thru lane approaching the 2400 block.
According to investigators, Forque failed to observe the approaching motorcycle and entered the westbound lanes of Stirling Road directly into the path of the motorcycle. Investigators say the front wheel assembly of the motorcycle struck the driver’s side door of the Nissan in an angular / T-bone type collision. Decatur was ejected from the motorcycle and came to a final rest within the far-left thru lane. The Nissan continued westbound on Stirling Road and came to a rest near Southwest 25th Avenue.
Hollywood Fire Rescue pronounced Decatur deceased at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, Forque, was transported to Hollywood Memorial Hospital with injuries listed as not life-threatening and was later released.
The investigation is ongoing.
