A woman is dead days after a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Pompano Beach, and Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Monday, March 30, BSO detectives responded to a report of a crash involving two vehicles in the intersection of West Copans Road and Northwest Third Avenue.

The investigation revealed that Michelle Tampellini, was driving a 2022 Jeep Wrangler SUV traveling westbound on West Copans Road approaching the intersection at Northwest Third Avenue. At the same time, Teresa Masone was driving a 2011 Lincoln MKS sedan traveling eastbound on West Copans approaching Northwest Third Avenue. Antoinette Biamonte was the right front seat passenger in the Lincoln.

Detectives say as both vehicles entered the intersection, the driver of the Jeep conducted a left turn directly into the path of the Lincoln. The front passenger side of the Jeep collided with the front driver’s side of the Lincoln in an offset / angular head-on type of collision.

Investigators say the impact caused the Jeep to rotate counterclockwise and roll southeast towards the sidewalk. The Lincoln was redirected in a southern direction and came to final rest facing south in front of the northbound lanes of Northwest Third Avenue.

BSO deputies responded to the crash scene as well as Pompano Beach Fire Rescue. The occupants of the Lincoln were transported to the Broward Health North while the driver of the Jeep remained on scene.

Later on, Monday, March 30, Biamonte was pronounced deceased at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
