Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday evening in Oakland Park. 

According to detectives, shortly after 6:45 p.m. on July 14, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a single-vehicle traffic crash in the 4700 block of North Andrews Avenue. BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2008 Honda Pilot was traveling northbound within in the left thru lane on North Andrews Avenue approaching Northewest 47th Court. At some point, the vehicle veered northwest into the median and collided with a large palm tree. OPFR transported the driver and sole occupant, Wilfrid Jospeh, to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Per medical staff, Joseph experienced a medical event prior to the crash.
