He lifted their spirits and nonchalantly walked out the store without paying. That happened at least 8 times in Oakland Park. Turns out, stealing spirits comes with a sobering reality check. BSO Oakland Park District detectives arrested 33-year-old Kendrick Wallace who now faces several charges including multiple retail thefts within a specified period and petit theft in the second degree.

Detectives say Wallace didn’t always work alone. Investigators are releasing surveillance video of several of these thefts looking to identify two additional subjects. Investigators also suspect more liquor stores were targeted by these individuals, and detectives are asking additional victims to come forward.

The modus operandi was simple and swift – they walked into the liquor store, grabbed bottles of alcohol and walked out without paying. Investigators say, during the month of June and July, Wallace stole bottles of alcohol from several ABC Fine Wine and Liquor stores and made his spirited getaway, until BSO caught up with him.

Following an extensive investigation, BSO detectives identified Wallace as the suspect in this case. On July 30, Wallace was arrested and booked at BSO’s Main Jail.

According to investigators, these individuals are believed to have committed similar crimes in other jurisdictions of Broward County.
