Broward Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detectives arrested a North Lauderdale man who was extorting a teenager for nude photos.

In December, ICAC received a tip regarding an individual who was soliciting nude photos from a 14-year-old girl and extorting the victim through social media. The investigation led detectives to the suspect, Ygremerley Murat. 

Detectives obtained evidence that Murat began commenting on the victim’s posts and offering compliments. He eventually asked for nude photos. After sending the photos, the victim began receiving threatening direct messages from Murat demanding more sexually explicit photos. He threatened to post her photos on social media if she did not comply. The victim stopped communicating with Murat and notified her mother. 

On Tuesday morning, detectives served a search warrant at Murat’s residence and discovered several videos of underage girls involved in sexual acts. Following the discovery of the material, detectives say Murat confessed to the crimes. He was arrested on charges of extortion and solicitation of a child using a computer or device.
