Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit moved quickly, arresting a man two days after fatally shooting a woman.

Shortly before 2 p.m., on Thursday, July 17, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a deceased person at a business located at 2700 West Oakland Park Boulevard in Oakland Park. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and located an adult female inside of suite 20 who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Cuiyun Fu, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives with BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide Units responded to investigate. They quickly identified the suspect as Chris Luchenburg and learned that Luchenburg and Fu had known each other for a few months. The preliminary investigation revealed that Luchenburg entered Fu’s business the morning of Wednesday, July 16. That is where he shot and killed her before leaving the scene. Her body was discovered the next day.

With assistance from BSO's V.I.P.E.R. (Violent Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) Unit, detectives arrested Luchenburg Friday morning, and he was booked into the BSO Main Jail. He faces one count of murder in the first degree with a firearm.
