Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit are releasing surveillance video in hopes of solving a murder that occurred last December.

The video was recorded on Sunday, Dec. 1, prior to the shooting death of victim Roderick Henry in Pompano Beach. The video shows the suspected male shooter standing outside of a vehicle near the 300 block of Avondale Drive. The man lit a cigarette and appeared to be alone. According to detectives, Henry was completing a prison sentence for crimes committed in Palm Beach County and was an inmate at a work release facility. On the night of his murder, Henry was outside the facility speaking to an individual. During that conversation, the shooter, who was waiting for Henry, walked up to Henry and shot and killed him. The shooter then fled the scene. Detectives believe Henry was targeted.

BSO Pompano Beach District deputies responded to the area and located Henry with gunshot wounds. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue also responded and pronounced him deceased. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate, and the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Homicide Unit Detective Allison Craven-Swan at (954) 321-4384 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app. If you wish to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, please contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States.
