Description of Incident
Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives arrested Mario Alejandro Ramirez for the murder of a woman early Tuesday morning in Oakland Park.
Shortly after 12:56 a.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office district deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance near the 100 block of Northeast 41st Street in Oakland Park. On scene, BSO deputies located a woman suffering from injuries including stab wounds inside a residence. The woman was pronounced deceased on scene. Deputies also made contact with Ramirez who appeared to be suffering from self-inflicted injuries.
BSO deputies struggled with Ramirez while at the same time applying pressure to stop his bleeding. Deputies were able to control Ramirez and arrest him. Oakland Park Fire Rescue transported Ramirez to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.
Ramirez now faces one count of murder in the second degree.
