Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit are releasing surveillance footage of an armed woman wanted in connection to an attempted carjacking. Investigators are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate this individual and her accomplice.
According to detectives, the attempted carjacking took place just after 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at a hotel near the 400 block of Gulf Stream Way in Dania Beach. The victim told detectives that while she was loading equipment into her car’s trunk, two unknown individuals approached her and that one of them demanded her car keys. When the victim refused to hand them over, the subject who made the demand reached into her waistband, withdrew a black firearm, and pointed it at the victim before demanding the keys once again. The victim said she then took off running.
Through investigative methods, detectives obtained surveillance footage that captured the moments after the victim ran off. The footage shows the victim running to the hotel lobby, where she sought help from the manager and an employee. As she pleaded for assistance, the subject, wearing a light-colored jacket, black shirt, black shorts, and black slides, approached the hotel entrance armed with a black handgun. The subject then pointed the firearm at the people in the lobby, exchanged brief words, then calmly left the area on foot toward Griffin Road.
Anyone with information on the subjects involved is asked to contact BSO’s Robbery Detective Daniel Cortes at 954-321-4296 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States.
