Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit are releasing surveillance video of an attempted armed robbery that occurred in unincorporated Central Broward, near Fort Lauderdale, last December. Investigators are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the individuals involved.

According to investigators, the crime occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2024, at the Big Champs Food Store located at 2409 N.W. 15th Court. Surveillance video of the crime shows two armed subjects entering the store. One subject was dressed in all black, while the other was wearing a black hoodie with a distinctive orange design on the arm and chest areas of the hoodie. He was also wearing black pants and shoes. Both subjects wore gloves, sunglasses, and facemasks.

As the robbers entered the store, one located the clerk and held him at gunpoint. The same subject is then seen entering the back office, where he attempted to access the safe. Detectives say while the first subject was in the back, the second subject remained upfront and attempted to access the secure area behind the counter.

A short time after entering the store, the robbers ran out of the business and headed north on foot.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the robbers’ identities and/or whereabouts to contact BSO Robbery Unit Det.
