Description of Incident
Three suspects who flew into Fort Lauderdale from Baltimore Saturday morning didn’t make their evening return flight. Instead, they landed in jail.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport arrested two men and a woman after they stuffed hundreds of dollars’ worth of designer fragrances into bags after hitting the duty-free shops. When they returned to the airport in the evening to catch their flight back to Baltimore with the stolen goods, deputies observed them in the airport.
One suspect attempted to run from deputies, dropping the bags filled with perfume and sneakers along the way. All three were quickly taken into custody.
Javon Darrell Staten, William Arthur Manning and Rachael Manning face charges that include grand theft and fraud. Staten faces added charges of resisting an officer without violence and violating probation.
