At approximately 7:57 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, BSO deputies responded to a possible hit-and-run crash near the 3800 block of North Powerline Road in Oakland Park. The preliminary investigation revealed Barbara Price, who was crossing the street from east to west outside the designated crosswalk, was struck by a vehicle that fled the area.
Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Price deceased on scene. Detectives with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit were notified and responded to conduct the investigation.
Through investigative methods, detectives determined the vehicle involved was a light blue 2005 to 2009 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SUV. Investigators say the front passenger side of the Land Rover struck the victim, causing her to be projected southwest off the roadway.
