Lieutenant David “Corry” Roberts began his law enforcement career with the Broward Sheriff’s Office in 2002 as a deputy sheriff assigned to the Pompano Beach District. While assigned to Pompano Beach, he served as a Field Training Officer, became a FDLE-certified general instructor, and then was selected for the motor unit in February 2008. In 2013, he was transferred to the Cooper City District while still in the capacity of a motorman. During his time in Cooper City, he was selected to become an instructor for the motor unit.
In 2016, he was transferred to the Weston District motor unit until his promotion to Sergeant in 2019. After serving as a road patrol supervisor for 14 months, Lt. Roberts was then transferred to the Weston Traffic Unit in January 2021 to oversee six motor deputies, one commercial vehicle deputy, and one Community Service Aide. Lt. Roberts oversaw numerous traffic related events within the city as well as assisting with planning of countywide operations and dignitary escorts for the entire motor unit in the tri-county area.
In 2024, Lt. Roberts was selected to oversee training for the entire motor unit to include all tactical range training and civilian training classes.
In July 2025, Lt. Roberts was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to the City of Pompano Beach as the Executive Office for Area One.
