The Fire Prevention Bureau’s Mission is to provide the residents and visitors of Broward County, with professional, high quality, comprehensive, and cost-efficient fire prevention and life safety management services to reduce the loss of life and property from fire and other perils.

The Fire Prevention Bureau of the Broward Sheriff's Office has a widespread range of responsibilities. Those responsibilities include:

  • Providing fire and life safety inspections for commercial and multi residential occupancies

  • Plan review and inspection of new and reconstruction projects

  • Fire prevention code enforcement

  • Reviewing, issuing and inspecting special event permits that include special events such as firework displays and operations involving hazardous materials

Car Seat Checks

Car seat appointments are available for parents/caregivers that need assistance with the installation of a child car seat. Appointments will be scheduled with one of our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.

Youth Firesetter Prevention and Intervention

Broward County's Youth Firesetter Prevention and Intervention Program provides specialized fire safety education for at-risk children. Learn more đŸ¢–

Public Education and Community Outreach

The Fire Prevention Bureau offers educational experiences for the community. Please complete a Public Education & Community Outreach Request form if you are interested in scheduling a Fire Prevention educational event for your organization.

Babysitter's Training

The American Red Cross Babysitter's Training program provides with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. This class is open to participants ages 13-18 years old who reside in the City of Weston. Parent/Guardian Identification may be verified to ensure Weston residency. SteadyLiving@Home

SteadyLiving@Home is a fall prevention education program for adults ages 65 and older, offering a voluntary in-home safety survey and fall risk assessment conducted by fire rescue professionals and trained volunteers.
