Captain Najmy Halabi

Captain Najmy Halabi joined the Broward Sheriff's Office in 1995 as a deputy sheriff in the Department of Detention. In 1997, he transferred to the Department of Law Enforcement. He served as a road patrol deputy, Selective Enforcement Team member, and Criminal Investigations detective before being selected to work in the Strategic Investigations Division in 2003. There, he worked in BSO's Counter Terrorism Unit, Auto Theft Task Force and Gang Unit until he was transferred back to road patrol in the Dania Beach district in 2010. After serving a short stint in the Background Investigations Unit, Captain Halabi was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the West Park /Pembroke Park district in 2011. He supervised road patrol there, the district's Crime Suppression Team and the Criminal Investigations Unit.

In 2013, Captain Halabi was selected to work in the Internal Affairs Division. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2015 and was assigned as shift commander in the Pompano Beach district. In 2016, Captain Halabi returned to the Strategic Investigations Division as a lieutenant, where he supervised the Office of Homeland Security /Counter Terrorism Unit, Bomb Squad, Covert Electronic Surveillance Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and was instrumental in creating the Digital Forensics Unit. In 2020, Captain Halabi returned to the Pompano Beach district as the executive officer of Area 1. In 2021, he transferred to the Court Services district, where he served as the executive officer until his promotion to captain in December 2023.

Captain Halabi holds a bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Barry University. He is an active member of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association and is a graduate of the 81st University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute Command Officer's Development Course.
