Captain Christopher Ryan

Pompano Beach

Captain Christopher Ryan began his law enforcement career with the Broward Sheriff’s Office in 2006 as a road patrol deputy assigned to the Pompano Beach District. While assigned to Pompano Beach, he served as a detective on the Crime Suppression Team and as a narcotics canine handler. In 2014, he transferred to the Strategic Investigations Division, where he served as a detective on the Money Laundering Task Force.

In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and reassigned to the Pompano Beach District as a patrol supervisor. He has worked in various capacities and commands as a sergeant, including Internal Affairs, the Public Corruption Unit, the Money Laundering Task Force, and the Narcotics Interdiction Task Force.

In 2021, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to Regional Patrol, where he oversaw the Aviation Unit, Marine Patrol Unit, Patrol Canine Unit, Dive Rescue Team, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems. In 2024, he was appointed as the Pompano Beach Area One Executive Officer, and in July 2025, he was promoted to the rank of captain, assigned to Pompano Beach Area One.

Captain Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from American Military University. He is a recipient of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award and a graduate of the 92nd Command Officers Development Course at the University of Louisville. Captain Ryan is an FDLE-certified general instructor and currently serves as a part-time adjunct instructor at the Broward College Institute of Public Safety.
