BSO Cares is a voluntary registry for persons with disability living in Broward County. It allows Broward Sheriff's Office deputies and dispatchers to access important information during emergencies, missing person cases, or calls for service, so they can respond more safely and effectively. To remain in the registry, information must be reviewed and updated at least once a year
The BSO Cares Registry is available to all Broward County Residents (youth and adults) who reside within BSO Jurisdictions and meet the requirements of the registry as outlined in FSS 402.88 Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine
Yes. To enroll in the BSO Cares registry, you must upload proof of eligibility. BSO may accept: A letter or documentation from a licensed medical or mental health professional confirming the disability or condition, or If you are registering a child or someone in your care, documentation showing you have legal authority to do so (such as a birth certificate, court order, or guardianship papers).
This information is used only to verify eligibility and is kept confidential.
Your information is not available immediately after submission. All registrations are reviewed and verified by a BSO liaison before being entered into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. This process may take up to two (2) weeks.Please make sure the information you submit is accurate and complete.
Only authorized BSO personnel who need access for official duties can view registry information. The information is used only to help first responders better assist registered individuals and is not shared with third parties. BSO policies and state law protect this information.
Yes. You can update your information at any time submitting a new BSO Cares Registration. You should update your profile whenever there is a change in address, contact information, medical or behavioral needs, or any other important detail.
If a registered individual is reported missing, deputies and dispatchers will immediately have access to the person's information through the CAD system, which can help speed up the response and improve the search.
We recommend always keeping a current photo available to share with first responders if needed.
