A Tamarac woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 2:55 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 6900 block of North Pine Island Road in Tamarac in reference to a traffic crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Nissan Kicks, driven by 67-year-old Amy Leigh Garbati, turned left across the southbound lanes of North Pine Island Road when she was struck by a 2014 Nissan Altima, which was traveling south on North Pine Island Road. The Altima struck the driver’s side of the Nissan Kicks.

The impact caused Garbati’s vehicle to be redirected and come to a final rest facing south in the northbound lanes of North Pine Island Road. The Altima was redirected across the northbound lanes and came to a final rest within the parking lot area of a residential complex on the east side of North Pine Island Road.

At this time, excessive speed is not being considered a contributory factor to the crash. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
