Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes and Homicide detectives on Tuesday arrested a 16-year-old male and charged him with committing a murder in Oakland Park. 

At approximately 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, Broward Regional Communications received a call regarding a shooting in the 4900 block of Northeast Ninth Avenue in Oakland Park. BSO deputies responded and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Oakland Park Fire Rescue transported the man to a nearby hospital for surgery. The victim died in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 21. 

The investigation reveals that the suspect saw the victim walking to his vehicle and a verbal confrontation ensued. The victim drove his car over to the suspect and exited his car. At that time, the suspect fired a shot at the victim, striking him. 

BSO deputies established a perimeter and located the suspect. A handgun was found in the suspect’s backpack. Deputies arrested the 16-year-old on a charge of second degree murder and transported him to the Juvenile Assessment Center for processing.
