Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in North Lauderdale. 

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, BSO deputies responded to 5300 N. State Road 7 after a vehicle struck a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation reveals that the driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was heading northbound in the right lane on State Road 7 between Prospect Road and Commercial Boulevard when a pedestrian darted into the driver’s path. The pedestrian did not enter the roadway in a designated pedestrian crosswalk.

The Chevrolet struck the pedestrian, and the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. North Lauderdale Fire Rescue transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and at this time, detectives do not believe impairment or excessive speed are factors in the crash.
