Detectives with the Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Wilton Manors.

Shortly after 4:56 a.m., on Thursday, August 1, BSO traffic homicide detectives responded to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the 300 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard in the City of Wilton Manors. At the request of the Wilton Manors Police Department, BSO’s traffic homicide detectives are investigating this crash.

The preliminary information revealed Clifton Schudamore was driving a 2008 Ford Expedition traveling eastbound on Oakland Park Boulevard when the pedestrian, Makayla Denise Brown, entered the path of the Ford. Investigators say the front passenger side of the Ford struck Brown.

After the collision, Brown was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Ford remained on scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
