Description of Incident:
A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car Thursday morning in Pompano Beach. 

According to Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives, just after 8 a.m., the driver of a Ford F-150 was heading northbound on Powerline Road, approaching the intersection of South Palm Aire Drive. At the same time, a pedestrian was crossing Powerline Road, about 110 feet north of the intersection and outside of a designated crosswalk. 

Witnesses told detectives that several vehicles took evasive actions to avoid hitting the pedestrian, narrowly missing the man. At that point, the pedestrian darted into the path of the Ford F-150, which hit him. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the pedestrian deceased on the scene.  

The traffic homicide investigation into the crash is ongoing.
