A pedestrian attempting to cross South State Road 7 in unincorporated Central Broward was struck and killed by a car Wednesday night.

At approximately 11:06 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the 1500 block of South State Road 7 for a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the roadway mid-block from west to east. A 2017 Honda Accord sedan, driven by Sheldon Nelson, was traveling northbound on South State Road 7, in the right thru lane, within the 1500 block. As the pedestrian entered the northbound lanes, he was struck by the Honda.

After the crash, Nelson immediately stopped, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. The pedestrian was transported to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation continues.
