Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatal four-vehicle crash that took place Sunday evening in Oakland Park.

At approximately 6 p.m. on Dec 30th, Maritza Gramage’s 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander had become disabled and was stopped in the left turn lane of eastbound West Oakland Park Blvd. Martin Irusta-Magni approached the disabled car in his Mazda CX-5 and stopped in the turn lane behind the Outlander. Ebony Lewis’ Cadillac XTS utility also entered the turn lane and stopped behind the Mazda.

As Alan Shulman was driving his 2011 Chevrolet Camaro eastbound on West Oakland Park Blvd. in the far left thru lane approaching the intersection of N.W. 18th Avenue, Lewis tried to exit the turn lane and entered into the path of Shulman’s Camaro.

The front driver’s side of Shulman’s Camaro struck the passenger side of Lewis’ Cadillac in a sideswipe-type collision. After colliding with the Camaro, the Cadillac rotated counter clockwise, slid into the left turn lane and struck the passenger side rear of the Mazda.

The front of the Camaro then struck the passenger side front corner of the Outlander. The Camaro came to final rest on top of the median. All other vehicles came to rest within the eastbound lanes of West Oakland Park Blvd.

Shulman was not wearing a seat belt. He was transported to the Broward Health Medical Center and was pronounced deceased at 7:00 p.m.  Maritza Gramage was transported to the Florida Medical Center. All other persons involved in the incident remained on scene and provided statements.

The investigation is going.
