Broward Municipal Services District residents and businesses, as well as the public in general, are invited to learn about and comment on the upcoming Broward Sheriff’s Office Training Center and Parking Garage Project. The facility will be built at the site of the Public Safety Complex at 2601 W. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
The meeting will be held in person only starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Public Safety Building at 2601 W. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new state-of-the-art training center was held on December 19, 2019. The project includes a seven-story 650-space parking garage and a four-story training center dedicated to training law enforcement officers and fire rescue personnel. The 104,000 square foot center will have multiple indoor tactical ranges and training classrooms for law enforcement and fire rescue, as well as open meeting rooms for large groups.
The facility will also include a rappel tower for law enforcement and fire rescue as well as the Training Division’s administrative offices.
The plans include a memorial dedicated to the 17 victims of the Parkland shooting in the lobby of the new training facility.
The July 14 meeting is an opportunity to learn about the project, including information on traffic impacts, what is being built and other issues of importance to the community. There will be a short presentation by BSO personnel and the project team with comments to follow.
