He’s not the famous rapper, but as soon as media broadcasted the surveillance video of a man known by the nickname “Pitbull” robbing the 19th Street Food Stop in Lauderdale Lakes, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives received a tip identifying the suspect.

Once images of the robbery were shared on August 2, the robbery suspect was identified as Mickenson Francois, 24.  BSO Robbery detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest the next day, and he was taken into custody without incident on August 7.

On July 24, the store clerk at the store located at 3851 N.W. 19th St. in Lauderdale Lakes says Francois walked in holding an unknown long object inside a plastic bag and then proceeded to rob the place.

Surveillance video shows him jumping over the counter as he is met by the female store clerk. The woman attempts to get him to leave the restricted area, but he pushes and shoves her as he walks toward the cash register. The relentless clerk follows Francois toward the register and tussles with him in an attempt to prevent the robbery, but the suspect grabs a money pouch that’s below the cash register and begins to flee. The clerk yells for help and is seen following Francois out of the store.

Francois was booked into the BSO Main Jail facing one robbery charge.
