A man lying on the beach last Saturday morning caught the eye of beachgoers in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea after not moving for a prolonged period of time. Upon closer inspection, they called 911 to report something was wrong. BSO homicide detectives investigating the death do not believe it was suspicious, but they are releasing a sketch of the man hoping the public can help identify him.
Broward Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications received the call about the unresponsive male just before 10:30 a.m. June 22. Units responding to the beach area near Commercial Boulevard, just south of the pier, confirmed the man was dead.
BSO detectives say the man was found on the sand near a beach chair and beach mat. He did not have a license or any other type of identifying document in his wallet. He’s believed to be a white male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, 190 pounds and is between 40 and 55 years of age.
The man was found wearing a black sweater, black pants with a white stripe down the side of the leg, black shoes and a flannel jacket.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the sketch is asked to contact BSO Homicide Detective Jeffrey Curtis at 954-321-4210.
