Description of Incident:
A 42-year-old man has died six years after his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle in West Park.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016, Sherman Hall Copeland was operating a 2014 Honda CBR motorcycle in the 4200 block of Southwest 19th Street in West Park. According to detectives, Copeland was traveling at a speed of approximately 80 mph in a 30 mph posted speed zone when he was involved in a T-bone crash with a 2012 Toyota Corolla driven by Paula Morales. Detectives said, he also did not have the necessary motorcycle license.

As a result of the crash, Copeland sustained serious bodily injuries and resided in a rehabilitation center in Hollywood.

On Monday, Aug. 1, Copeland was pronounced deceased by Hollywood Fire Rescue, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit was notified by the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office of his death.

The Broward Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a traumatic brain injury due to a vehicle crash.
