MEDIA INTERVIEW AND DEMONSTRATION
WHEN: 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 28
WHERE: Broward County Professional Firefighters & Paramedics LOCAL 4321
11 NW 34th Ave, Lauderhill
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, in partnership with the local International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) labor unions and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), will host its annual kickoff for the “FILL THE BOOT” fundraising campaign.
Muscular dystrophy is a debilitating neuromuscular disease which causes severe muscle weakness requiring special needs such as walkers and wheelchairs for mobility. It is often first diagnosed in childhood and gradually progresses through adolescence and into adulthood.
IAFF’s partnership with MDA began in 1954 when the organization committed by proclamation to support MDA until a cure is found. The organization's unwavering commitment to MDA remains strong to this day. As MDA’s largest national partner, they have raised more than $650 million for the MDA to date. Monies raised contribute to medical research in finding a cure, therapy, mobility aids and social services.
Please join us with bringing awareness to MDA as firefighters hit the streets, collecting for one of the most worthwhile causes, helping make the lives of those afflicted with muscular dystrophy better and offering hope for a cure.
Media opportunity will include interviews with fire rescue command staff, IAFF local firefighters and MDA representatives.
