2401 W. Cypress Creek Road
We appreciate your interest in covering the services of our fallen deputy; however, Dep. Benjamin Nimtz’s family wishes to mourn his life out of the media spotlight. They are respectfully requesting media do not attend the memorial at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale. Calvary Chapel will stream the service live. You can access the link from the homepage of the chapel’s website at calvaryftl.org or use this link to go directly to the feed: https://live.calvaryftl.org/. Thank you in advance for honoring the family’s request.
Parking at Calvary Chapel: For media that still plan to attend the memorial, an unobtrusive media parking area is being provided located on the southern edge of the property near a service road between 2101 and 2400 just north of West Cypress Creek Road (Northwest 62nd Street). From Cypress Creek Road, use the entrance at 2101, then turn left. Media are asked to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. and remain in the designated parking area during the service.
Travel/Traffic information: The procession will leave West Palm Beach at 8 a.m. heading south on Florida’s Turnpike to Fred Hunter’s funeral home in Hollywood, then north on the Turnpike arriving at Calvary Chapel at approximately 10:50 a.m. Please advise motorists to expect sporadic, rolling road closures on Florida’s Turnpike between West Palm Beach and Hollywood as the procession makes its way to the chapel.
News helicopters: We anticipate news helicopters will be following the procession. We ask that once the procession has reached Calvary Chapel, news helicopters not hover above or near the area. We do not want the noise from the helicopters to interfere with the final arrival. Thank you for being sensitive to the family and everyone in attendance.
Please also be aware that a flyover will take place (weather permitting) during the law enforcement honors on the west side of the property following the memorial.
