If you get any satisfaction out of seeing the good guy win, then you’ll enjoy watching two burglars’ futile attempt to break into a North Lauderdale home.  The good guy in this case, is an impact window.

The late July burglary attempt was captured on the home’s surveillance system.  Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are hoping someone can help identify the would-be thieves.

Around 8:40 p.m. on July 27 the two suspects are seen walking past the home, before one of them goes to the front door and knocks.  After getting no answer at the door, the two men jump over the fence into the backyard.  In view of a camera in the backyard, one of the suspects, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, uses a large paver to try to break through the window.  After five unsuccessful attempts, he frustratingly throws the paver on the ground.  His accomplice then picks up the paver and makes another 11 attempts before admitting defeat.

In all, the suspects shattered at least one window but were unable to gain entry.  When the window cracked, it set off the home alarm system and made the suspects scatter.

Anyone who recognizes the two men in the video is asked to contact BSO Detective Tony Hierrezuelo at 954-722-5800. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.  Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.

MEDIA NOTE: The surveillance video is attached to this news release on our website www.sheriff.org.
