DETECTIVES SEARCH FOR MAN FISHING FOR TROUBLE

Broward Sheriff's Office: Public Information Office

PIO Number: 19-6-4

Date: June 12, 2019

In broad daylight, a man – seemingly enjoying some midday fishing – was actually casing a Weston neighborhood looking to attempt a break-in.

Around 12:30 p.m. on April 11, a homeowner at the Coconuts neighborhood in Weston noticed a man walking around the lake behind his home.  He even noticed him peek into his screened-in patio, but didn’t think much of it.  Hours later, as he reviewed his surveillance video, he realized the man had attempted to get inside.

At first, the video shows the man near the edge of the lake pretending to be fishing.  Later, he’s seen walking through backyards, stopping to attempt to open at least two patio doors, but he was unsuccessful.

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are hoping the public can help identify the suspect.  Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Detective Danielle Quiñones at 954-626-4008. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
