Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a crash that left a man dead in West Park Thursday afternoon.
Around 2:29 p.m. on March 5, detectives responded to the intersection of Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Southwest 40th Avenue in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
Preliminary investigation reveals the pedestrian, Jovan H. Rembert, attempted to cross Hallandale Beach Boulevard from the north to the south. As he was crossing, Diego Armando Lopez Zepeda was driving a 2016 Dodge Charger westbound through the intersection when the vehicle struck Rembert. Zepeda drove around the block and returned to the scene where he remained with investigators.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue pronounced Rembert dead on scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
