The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a 77-year-old man from Pembroke Pines.
At approximately 11:59 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, Michael Dodsworth and two passengers were traveling southbound in a 2014 Chrysler 200 on South State Road 7. At the same time, a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on South State Road 7 in the center thru lane.
According to detectives, Dodsworth attempted to make a left turn into a business plaza, entered into the path of the Chevrolet and was struck. The driver of the Chevrolet then fled the scene on foot following the collision. Witnesses described him as a black male with dreads wearing a black jacket.
BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Office Fire Rescue responded, and Dodsworth and the two passengers were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital to be treated. Dodsworth, who was listed in critical condition, died a short time later due to his injuries.
