Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian that occurred in Pompano Beach late Sunday night. 

According to investigators, at approximately 9:20 p.m. on July 13, BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to a report of a person hit by a car near the 2600 block of West Atlantic Boulevard.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing West Atlantic Boulevard when she ran into the side of a 2024 Volkswagen Taos that was traveling eastbound. After the crash, the pedestrian was transported to Broward Health North with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased early Monday morning.

The driver of the vehicle and his two passengers did not report any injuries and remained on scene. 

The investigation continues.
