Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man discovered Thursday night inside a burning home.

Just before 8 p.m. May 9, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and Wilton Manors police officers responded to a fire at 201 N.W. 25th St. in Wilton Manors.  As crews were extinguishing the flames, they discovered the body of a man inside.  The victim, 40-year-old John Young, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives, who investigate deaths within the city of Wilton Manors, were called to take over the death investigation.  They are investigating the case as a suspicious death.  

The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
