COURAGE ON DISPLAY: BSO RECOGNIZES FIVE MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENTS

In a ceremony that paid tribute to extraordinary courage, five Medal of Honor recipients were recognized for acts of selflessness and bravery during the Broward Sheriff’s Office 2024 Annual Awards Ceremony. One dove into rough waters in a desperate attempt to save a drowning teenager. Three others charged into a gunfight to confront an active shooter, and another raced toward the aftermath of a devastating helicopter crash to protect others while putting his life in peril.

“We don’t control the outcomes. But we can control the effort. When faced with danger - each one of the Medal of Honor recipients didn’t hesitate – they acted,” Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony said. “Every ounce of their effort went into giving another person a fighting chance to go home to their loved ones. That’s why we do this job.”
