The nation’s largest and most versatile Forensic Response Unit joins the Broward Sheriff’s Office as its newest addition to the Crime Scene Unit.
After in-depth planning and insight from the Crime Scene Unit, Criminal Investigations, Fleet Services, Information Technology Division and other units, this cutting edge Forensic Response Unit is second to none. It was designed with the future in mind allowing for technological upgrades to be accomplished without any major modifications to the platform.
It is a versatile dual investigative platform, allowing for components of the criminal investigators to work in tandem with crime scene detectives without compromising evidence. The two sections of the platform allow the Crime Scene Unit to maintain a sterile and secure location while providing the criminal investigator with an on-scene location to discuss and coordinate investigative efforts.
In addition to providing a location for investigators and crime scene detectives to work, this 45 foot long and 9 foot wide platform is equipped with four perimeter cameras, an operator-controlled pole camera to capture a 360-degree view of the scene location, a docking station to upload body worn camera video, a footwear standard collection station and the capability to carry and deploy the Unmanned Aerial System (also referred to as a drone).
